This vocabulary helps you to improve your Russian not only in communicating with young people but also in everyday communication.

When you like something or someone you can say: ОТПАД (at-PAD), ПОТРЯСНО (pa-TRYAS-no), КЛёВО (klYO-vo), КЛАССНО(KlAS-no), УЛёТНО(u-LYOT-no), КРУТО (KROO-to).

‘Мы так КЛёВО (or КРУТО) вчера повеселились’ – We had so fun yesterday.

‘Он такой красавчик – просто ОТПАД!’ - He's so handsome!

‘Я знаю такое КЛёВОЕ кафе, я там была с подругой’ - I know a cool cafe, I have been there with my friend.

‘Это УЛёТНЫй фильм, давай посмотрим его вместе’ - This is a cool movie, let's watch it together.

‘ПОТРЯСНЫй прикид, ты выглядишь на миллион’ – Awesome outfit, you look like a million dollars.

When you completely satisfied with something you can say: УЛёТ or КАйФ

‘ КАйФ! Я так хорошо отдохнула’ – Cool! I'm so well rested.

When you are surprised with something you can say: ОБАЛДЕТЬ (a-bal-DET’)

‘- Я купила эту сумочку за 1000 долларов - I bought this bag for $ 1,000

- ОБАЛДЕТЬ! Так дорого’ - Golly, so much!

When something bad happens and you want to show that you are disappointed you can say: ЖЕСТЬ (ZhEST' )(to express emotions toward something cruel, unpleasant, difficult, scary), ОБЛОМ (a-BLOM) or ОБЛОМИСЬ (a-blo-MIS’) (means that you do not receive or achieve that you wanted), КАПЕЦ (kah-PETS) (synonym - ‘it is all UP’).

‘Там такая авария – ЖЕСТЬ!’ - There's such a car-accident - that's harsh!

‘ОБЛОМИCЬ вечеринка, родители вернулись домой’ - Tough! Party is over, parents came home’

‘КАПЕЦ, у меня кончились деньги’ - Fubar, I ran out of money.

To heighten negative emotions about some person, event or actions, you can also add the word КАПЕЦ :

‘Я КАПЕЦ как устала’ - I’m so tired.

‘Он КАПЕЦ какой скучный’ - He is boring so much.

‘КАПЕЦ! Ты в курсе, что завтра экзамен?’ - Fubar! Did you know that the exam tomorrow?

When you do not like someone or something, particularly film, someone’s image, house, etc., you can say: СТРёМНЫй (STREM-ny), ОТСТОй (aht-STOY)

‘У неё такая СТРёМНАЯ стрижка, она похожа на болонку’ - She has such a skeezy haircut, she looks like a lap-dog.

‘ОТСТОйНАЯ книга, я бы не советовала ее читать’ - Trashy book, I wouldn’t recommend this to read.

Other words:

ПРИКИД (pree-KEED )= a clothes, a mode of dressing (‘Я видела его вчера в новом ПРИКИДЕ – в черном костюме с галстуком.’ - I saw him yesterday in a new outfit - a black suit and tie.)

РАЗВОДИТЬ (raz-voh-DIT') = to trik, cheat (‘ Она не беременна, она просто его РАЗВОДИТ’ - She is not pregnant, she just cheat him.)

ГРУЗИТЬ (groo-ZIT' ) = to speak too much and give a big amount unnecessary information (‘Не ГРУЗИ меня, у меня голова болит’ - Do not burden me, I have a headache.) ЕЗДИТЬ ПО УШАМ (YEHZ-dit' po uSHAM = talk a lot or tell a lie = ‘talk smb's ear off!’ (‘Не надо мне ПО УШАМ ЕЗДИТЬ, я знаю, что эти перчатки не стоят больше 5 долларов’ - Don't talk my ear off. I know that these gloves are not worth more than $ 5.)

НЕ ВТЫКАТЬ (ne VTY-kat’) = do not understand (‘Ты НЕ ВТЫКАЕШЬ, почему я тебя спрашиваю?’ – Don’t you understand why I'm asking you?)

ТОРМОЗ (TOHR-moz) = a person who thinks slowly (‘Он такой тормоз, он до сих пор не понял моего намёка’ - He is such a slowcoach, he still did not understand my hint)

ПО ХОДУ (pah HO-doo )= perhaps (‘Он ПО ХОДУ глухой’ – He is perhaps deaf.)

РЕАЛЬНО (re-AHL'-no), В НАТУРЕ (vna-TU-reh)= in fact (‘Она В НАТУРЕ пробежала 42 километра без остановки’ - She ran 42 kilometers without stopping for real.)

ФИОЛЕТОВО (fee-ah-L'E-to-vo) = I'm easy (‘Мне ФИОЛЕТОВО, придёт он или нет’ - I do not care whether he will come or not.)

В ЛОМ (VLOhM ) = to be lazy, do not want to do something (‘Мне В ЛОМ идти в магазин одной, пойдем вместе’ - I do not want to go to the store alone, let's go together).
